Walking- Edinburgh on the whole is a very walkable
city. The Old Town is extremely condensed due to its walled
history, and the New Town is laid out in a regulated grid-like
fashion that is very easy to navigate.
The North Bridge and the Waverley Train Station connect the
Old and New Townsto make them easily accessible from
either way. I definitely recommend walking the city as much as
possible, as this is the best way to truly get a feel for its
character (and get your navigational bearings).

Bus- Edinburgh's bus system is all kinds of
useful, and very efficient. Having lived in Leith on the outskirts
of the New Town and in the center of the Old Town, I have always
found a bus that took me where I needed to go.
The fare is £1.50
one-way,with day passes available for visitors.
Special discounted passes are also available for students,
commuters and frequent users.

Tram
- after much wailing, traffic disruption and gnashing of
teeth, the Edinburgh Tram system will soon be taking on passengers
in the New Town. As of publication of this guide, they will begin
full operation in May 2014.
